AC Pest Issues and Control Measures

AC Pest Issues and Control Measures

Air conditioning systems are susceptible to attacks by pests resulting in serious malfunctioning. Typical pests that attack central AC systems include cockroaches, spiders, mice, rats, snakes, squirrels, and raccoons. At A-Plus Quality, HVAC servicing company in Toronto, we provide solutions to pest issues affecting air conditioning systems in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding cities.

Common pest issues with central AC systems

1. Cockroaches

Cockroaches are adapted to navigate tiny spaces and can quickly fix themselves into HVAC systems. Though they do not cause much harm, their movement through the ductwork can irritate. Cockroaches are also carriers of various diseases.

2. Spiders

Spiders also have the potential to crawl through tiny spaces. They can get into ductworks, vents, and indoor AC systems. They may pose health risks to humans and have no impact on the functioning of HVAC systems.

3. Mice and rats

Due to their gnawing abilities, rats and mice pose a significant threat to electronic wiring and general HVAC systems. Corrupted wiring systems also create the risk of electric surges that may result in the malfunction of the system.

4. Snakes

Extreme weather conditions force snakes to look for favourable conditions to survive in. Due to the moderated temperature in the environment, HVAC systems provide an excellent survival place. Most snakes are human health hazards.

5. Squirrels and Raccoons

Like rats and mice, these rodents are capable of gnawing through electronic devices. Their large sizes also cause noise disturbance as their movements are audible.

Tips to ensuring the safety of AC systems

A-Plus Quality, heating and cooling services in Toronto, provide several solutions to pest issues affecting ACs. The HVAC services provide real-time professional systems repair and maintenance. First, our technicians ensure that AC systems are sealed to prevent pests’ entry. Vent covers seal off vents that are exposed to the outside.

If you suspect damage to your AC system due to pests, give our team at A-Plus Quality heating and cooling in Toronto a call. We will be glad to assist you with any necessary repairs or replacements.

FAQ

  • What is a heat pump?

Heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house and during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide equivalent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating conventional heating or cooling appliances.
