Summer HVAC Maintenance Tips

Summer HVAC Maintenance Tips

While the city of Toronto may be best known for having cold winter months, the summer can be quite hot. To ensure that you remain cool and comfortable, you need to keep your HVAC system properly maintained. There are a variety of summer HVAC maintenance tips that you should follow to keep your system running well all year.

Annual Inspection and Tune-Up
To keep your HVAC system running well, you should be making sure that you are scheduling an annual inspection and tune-up service. During this service, the technician will check all of the parts of your system to make sure they are working well. They can also complete tune-up or some quick repairs to keep it running well. This will improve your cold out production and make the system more efficient.

Replace Filter
Another tip that you need to follow is to replace your filter regularly. The air filter can help to keep debris out of your air conditioner system. While this can help to prevent damage and clogs, it can also help cool air to pass through the system more efficiently. This will ultimately help you to keep your home nice and cold.

Make Repairs When Needed
Additional HVAC services in the Greater Toronto Area from A-Plus Quality will be needed from time to time. If you notice that your system is making odd noises, is not turning on consistently or simply does not produce the cold air that you need, you may be in need of a larger repair. When you call for HVAC services in Toronto from A-Plus Quality, the technicians will be able to inspect your system and make a determination of what needs to be repaired.

Keep Unit Clean
Finally, you should aim to keep your air conditioning unit as clean as possible. If you have a unit that sits on the ground outside, you should sweep around it regularly to keep all dirt, leaves and other debris away from it. You should also hand-wash any accessible parts that you see including the fans and coils.

FAQ

  • Why should I maintain my Furnace or AC?

An annual maintenance will extend the lifetime of your heating and cooling unit. The technician will diagnose and repair any problem with the unit before it fails, so you won't need to worry about any problems when the weather gets very hot in the summer or extremely cold in the winter.

  • Most common Boiler Issues

    - Boiler fails to ignite
    - Low pressure
    - Strange Noises
    - Boiler is not responding to the thermostat
    - Cold Radiators
    - Boiler leaking or dripping
    - Boiler cycling very fast
    - Available Hot water but No Heat

  • What is a mini-split?

By definition, and simply put, a “Split System” is a heating and air conditioning system which has two main components, the indoor unit and outdoor unit. In short, the indoor unit absorbs heat energy in the cooling mode, and the outdoor unit rejects the very heat absorbed by the indoor unit. And the cycle is repeated until the set temperature is met. Although the indoor and outdoor units are located in physically different, hence “split” locations, they are connected and operate as, one system; continuously circulating refrigerant liquid and vapor by means of interconnecting, dehydrated copper refrigerant lines, commonly referred to as a “Line Set”.

  • Water is Leaking on my Furnace

Water falling on to the furnace can harm your heating unit by affecting the control boards and other components enclosed in the furnace. There can be many causes to the water overflow, but the most common cases in the summer is the ice build up inside the evaporator coil due to low refrigerant level. Water build up can also be due to the evaporator coil having a crack on the base, if this is the case contact us by booking an appointment or call us today to have a technician come have a look at your unit and repair this issue before it causes excessive damage.

  • Why is there ice building up on the copper pipes?

There can be many reasons why the refrigerant pipes are freezing up but the most common issue is low refrigerant levels. If your AC unit has ice buildup turn off the unit for at least 4 hours and call us at 416-410-0337
